Nokia's New "Bothie" mode
Just when you thought taking a selfie was the latest trend in photography, Nokia has stepped in and introduced the "bothie."
The bothie mode capturing option on the new Nokia 8 will activate both the front and rear cameras to capture photos or video. It will also be able to broadcast video live with both cameras, and have options for Facebook or YouTube live streaming natively through the camera app interface.
When you create or view bothie mode, it will be displayed as split screen top and bottom. One camera on top and the other view on bottom.
Will it become trendy? In my opinion yes and no. It really depends on the situation, in live video, switching between cameras can become very laggy and annoying, it could prove popular for sporting event reactions, people streaming protests, concerts, or even walking in nice areas while reacting or commentating. But at the same time you're also sacrificing half your screen, where it might just be more useful to have just one camera view.
Just like 360 video, sometimes it's cool to look around at different things happening, but other times it's just annoying because it's only entertaining to look at one angle. It will have times where it's useful and useless, but I don't believe adding this perk will drive phone users, such as iPhone users away from other devices on to the Nokia.
The Nokia 8 will be looking to compete with the new iPhone 8, with a 13 MP camera, beating out the iPhone 7 camera in quality. The Nokia will also include a 5.3 inch display, splash proof design, imitated surround sound, and speedy charging, being able to charge 80% in half an hour.
